Kylie's Poem

Kylie had to write a catalog poem for language arts today. It's the sweetest thing! This is what she wrote:

My Mom
Who loves me, my sister, and Dad, and God
Who comforts me when I get hurt
Who likes very much to sing
Who gives hugs and kisses
Who also gives great advice

I don't think she could've written a better poem! Do you?

Show Us Your Life--Pets

This is the first time I've participated in the "Show Us Your Life" blog carnival through Kelly's blog, Kelly's Korner.

Here are my two puppies. I actually have 3 dogs, but I'm going to just tell you about the two young rascals that we have. We got Jack and Sam from the pet store at the mall on Memorial Day 2008. They are cairn terriers, brothers, and sometimes partners in crime!

This is Jack. He's cuddly, follows me around, likes to watch TV, moans and groans if I try to move him when he's sleepy and comfortable, and gets jealous if I pay too much attention to one of the other dogs.

This is Sammy. He likes to be where I am, too, but he's less of a cuddler. He is a licker, spins in circles when he gets excited, and growls when he thinks someone might take away his bone.

They make me smile, and sometimes they make me frustrated! But I love having them around!

Just Walk Across the Room

It sounds easy, doesn't it? But it's not. "Just Walk Across the Room" is the title of the Bible study that our small group is doing in conjunction with a 4-week series of sermons being preached by our pastor.

This study is about reaching out to unbelievers who we rub shoulders with in our day to day activities. It's about building relationships with others without having a singly-focused agenda of just getting a profession of faith in Jesus Christ. Of course, I do want others to accept Christ as their Savior, but it's about showing God's love to them regardless of their receptiveness.

This is a struggle for me, because I don't spend much time with unbelievers. I am either at home or at church most of the time. And I know that's where God has placed me and called me for now. But I am praying and keeping my eyes open to the people and the possibilities around me.

Hopefully I will see someone sometime who I feel the Holy Spirit is telling me to "walk across the room" and introduce myself to, and I will be able to impact that person for Christ!

God Still Performs Miracles Today

Well, baby Stellan got his miracle!!! After his surgery in Boston (which, by the way, had only a 20% success rate), Stellan's SVT is gone forever!!!!!!!! It's so neat to see how the prayers of so many have been answered. Kylie and Mia were excited to hear about Stellan's healing, too!

Our God is the same God who raised Lazarus from the dead, who turned the water into wine, who parted the Red Sea, who has paid for everyone's sin of all time--past, present, and future. He still does miracles! And for this I am thankful.

Please Pray

*Update*
Stellan is now in a hospital in Boston. After a few days out of SVT he is back in and not doing well at all. He will probably have an ablation tomorrow morning. He needs our prayers still!

Prayers for Stellan

Baby Stellan needs our prayers once again. He is back in the hospital. Please pray for this precious little boy and his family. To read how he is doing go here.

Hurting for My Friends

I just found out this morning that a dear friend of mine from college and her husband will not be adopting the two boys that they were hoping to adopt. It's been a long wait full of emotional roller coaster rides, and now the wait and the ride is over. God did answer prayer, just not in the way that we had all hoped.

Please pray for these dear friends as they go through a time of grieving. And also pray that God would show them what they should do next. They still want to be parents so much!
